We; Jessica, Kaitlyn, and Bilisuma, are students at Hill-Murray, a catholic school in Minnesota . We are currently studying church history and have begun a unit on Monasticism. We have a number of questions for you about your monastery and monastic life in general, could you answer a few for us? The due date for responses in Monday, March second, and we would love to hear from you.
We have to do two different kinds of community service each year as a school requirement each year, one dealing with the poor and vulnerable. Are you involved in the community at all? If so, what kinds of service are you involved in? As students we all have different ways of having fun like going to movie theater, or getting involved in sports. What do you do for fun? What you think of the recent election? Personally, we think Obama was a great choice for president, but he is pro-choice, which makes it a sensitive issue. What are your views on the new president? Do you think the election was historical, and do you all look at politics the same way? Do you miss having a family life? Some of us like to get involved in more than one activity at a time, like balancing school and a part-time job. Do you have other professions? We love to travel to exotic locations and experience the world through our own eyes. Do you have the chance to travel, and get to know different cultures? We all don't support all the wars that is going on all over the world today, such as in Iraq and Sudan. Do you support the wars? We think it would be pretty hard to give up so much to live a life like yours. When did you join this monastery and why you decided to join this monastery? Do you ever think of what your life would be like if you didn’t join the monastery?
